In dem Sorgerechtsstreit einer amerikanischen Familie beim Amtsgericht Kaiserslautern zählt die gegnerische Rechtsanwältin in ihrem Schriftsatz die Orte auf, wo die Familie seit Eheschließung gewohnt hat:
Es hat eine Weile gebraucht, bis ich kapiert habe, dass „Nirvana“ für Nevada stehen soll. Das ist das Problem, wenn man diktiert, anstatt selbst zu tippen.
Andererseits, wenn man mit dem Zug von Chemnitz nach Kaiserslautern fährt, kann man echt glauben, es sei so weit weg wie Nirwana. Diesmal bin ich vom 26. bis zum 29. November in Kaiserslautern, falls jemand aus der Gegend ist und Lust auf ein Treffen hat.

In family law, the differences between legal systems are probably less stark than in other areas of the law.
Especially in child custody law, unless you want to be very formulaic (like: children under the age of 10 always go to the mother, elder children always go to the father), it all comes down to the people involved, the specific history of that family and the judge’s gut feeling.
That’s one reason why I like family law, because it’s really about presenting a good narrative. I feel that the personality of the lawyer can have more influence in these cases than in a landlord/tenant dispute.
Das ist nicht gesagt. Es mag sich nach vier Jahren Nirvana angefühlt haben. Und dann wissen wir nicht, wo die Leute waren.
Du meinst, es ist ein Codewort für eine ganz geheime Sondermission?
Das mag sein. Wahrscheinlicher ist, dass sich die vier Jahre für die vertretene Partei angefühlt haben wie im Nirvana. Vielleicht – hoffentlich – aus Euphorie. Da fehlt einem dann jede Erinnerung, wo man wirklich war.
